Kim Kibum atau lebih dikenal dengan nama Key adalah vokalis dan salah seorang rapper SHINee. Ia adalah atlet ski air di Sekolah Menengah Dae Gu Young Shin. Bakatnya ditemukan ketika mengikuti audisi 2006 SM Tour Audition Casting Nasional.

Key bergabung dengan SHINee dan melakukan debutnya pada tanggal 25 Mei 2008 di SBS Inkigayo. Sebelum bergabung dengan SHINee, Key pernah muncul sebagai figuran dalam film Super Junior, Attack on the Pin-Up Boys. Key juga tampil penampilan menjadi bintang tamu untuk rekan sesama perusahaannya, Xiah untuk album solo “Xiahtic”.

Key juga berpartisipasi dalam album kedua Girls' Generation, Oh!, melalui single 'Boys & Girls (화성인 바이러스)'. Key juga tampil dalam album live pertama Girls' Generation, The 1st Asia Tour: Into The New World, dalam lagu 'Barbie Girl' berduet dengan Jessica. Selain itu, bersama dengan Leeteuk Super Junior, Key menyanyikan 'Bravo', salah satu soundtrack drama History of a Salaried Man. Dia juga berpartisipasi dalam lagu BoA, One Dream, serta mini album pertama EXO, Two Moons.

Key melakukan debut aktingnya melalui musikal Catch Me If You Can, dengan berperan sebagai Frank Abagnale Jr. Musikal ini berlangsung pada 28 Maret - 10 Juni di Blue Square, Samsung Card Hall, Hannam-dong, Seoul. Dia juga menjadi cameo dalam drama Salamander Guru and The Shadows pada episode 4.

Tanggal 24 Oktober 2012, Key kembali berpartisipasi dalam musikal Catch Me If You Can. Musikal ini akan dimulai pada tanggal 14 Desember 2012 dan berlanjut sampai 9 Februari 2013 di Gedung Opera di Pusat Seongnam Arts. Tanggal 18 Juli 2013, diumumkan bahwa Key akan berperan sebagai Clyde di musikal "Bonnie & Clyde" yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 September sampai 27 Oktober di Chungmu Art Hall di Seoul. Tidak lama setelah itu, pada tanggal 22 Oktober 2013, diumumkan bahwa ia akan kembali dalam musikal "The Three Musketeers" sebagai D'Artagnan.

Pada 20 Februari 2014, SM Entertainment merilis video prolog mengumumkan grup baru, Toheart, sebuah kolaborasi baru antara Woohyun Infinite dan Key. Video musik pertama Toheart, Delicious,  dirilis pada 10 Maret dan membuat penampilan debut mereka pada 12 Maret di MelOn Premier Showcase.
